Week 33: Roosevelt
Week 33: Roosevelt
Hand-drawn illustration based upon an original short story, newly concocted for each week of the year 2022. Comes framed exactly as the pictured example with the story in its entirety inscribed upon the back of the frame.
Roosevelt K Ostheimer is an old man
He is a kind man
He has had a challenging life
But he refuses to let that bitter him
Roosevelt is also a brilliant man
He has always been curious and energetic
He has dedicated his entire life to learning
Some time ago he devoted himself to creating something
Something that will always lend a hand
Something that will always be there for others
Something that can help in ways he can not
Roosevelt has been creating a robot!
He has failed many times
And worries that he is only getting older
Late one evening, Roosevelt had an accident
And he can no longer use his hands as he once could
Because of this, Roosevelt lost his energy
He lost his curiosity
He lost his devotion
And began to wonder why he had ever tried at all
Roosevelt’s friends and family are unhappy
They see him in despair
They know how much he wanted to help
So they came together to tell Roosevelt
That they appreciated his efforts
But they appreciate him even more
That his kindness, and energy, and curiosity
Were more help than any robot could ever be
