I Have Helped

I may seem insignificant

But I am vital

I may have little time 

But it is crucial

I may appear tiny

But I am powerful

Many think me merely a bug

A pretty bug

A bug nonetheless

I am so much more

I am endowed with purpose

I was crafted by cosmic powers

With eye-catching beauty

A slight, unthreatening size

And wings to fulfill my work

The work of creating smiles

Of being the bearer of relief 

however fleeting

To the peoples of this world

Enduring its misfortune

Enduring its atrocities

For just a singular rotation

Of this planet Earth

I have hidden and great purpose

To do all that I can 

To aid 

These humans

I hear your cries 

I hear your wishes

I hear when you truly need me most

I come to you momentarily

And then carry those hopes 

And those dreams

Across the wind

Through the light of the sun

In the glow of the moon

To bring them to Fate 

And whisper upon their shoulder

That which you need 

And know

No matter my size

No matter my time
