Reflection
I look at you and what I see is me
But it isn’t
You look like me
You move as I move
I critique you
I poke you
I prod you
You’re marred by time
By circumstance
I try to “fix” you
Chemicals, injections, knives
But you’re not what needs fixing
I judge you
A way I would never judge others
What I see is distorted
What I see is not what others see
Your every line and crease
To be cherished
To be celebrated
Signs of wisdom
Markers of challenges overcome
Defeats survived
I look at you and what I see is me
But it isn’t
You’re simply a reflection
